What is Rhinology?

Rhinology is the study of the nose.  The film word is derived from Greek - "rhino" meaning and nose and "ology" meaning "the study of" or "science of".

However, rhinology now covers the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the nose and nasal passages. This means in how the nose is put together, how it works and what can go wrong with it. It has come to include the bones and structures related to the nose such as the sinuses and skull bones such as the sphenoid bone.

Rhinology is a subdivision of ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat surgery).
